I want to return to Syria. What should I do?
If you wish to return to Syria voluntarily, you must schedule an appointment and apply at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in the city where you reside. Following your application, your fingerprints will be verified, and your criminal record will be checked. You will also undergo an interview regarding voluntary return. After the interview, a travel permit will be issued by the governorate responsible for the border crossing you wish to use. With this travel permit and the Voluntary Return Form issued in your name, you may travel to the border gate from which you intend to exit.
Do I need to obtain an exit permit?
If you wish to return to Syria voluntarily, you must apply to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in your city of residence to obtain a Travel Permit and a Voluntary Return Form.
If I return to Syria, can I come back to Turkey?
When returning to Syria, you must hand over your Temporary Protection Identification Document to the authorities at the border gate. Foreigners who exit under voluntary return procedures will be registered with the code V-87 (Syrian foreigner who has voluntarily returned).
According to the Ministry of Interior’s announcement dated December 24, 2024, from January 1 to July 1, each family will be allowed to exit and re-enter Turkey up to three times, once every six months.
Will my Temporary Protection status be canceled if I leave Turkey?
Yes, when you leave Turkey, your Temporary Protection status will be terminated. According to the Temporary Protection Regulation, you can reapply, but your application will be assessed based on your reasons for leaving, and a decision will be made accordingly.
